How to Know Which Electric Company You Have

Your electric provider depends on where your home is located:

• City of Harrisonburg: Harrisonburg Electric Commission (HEC)
• Rockingham County: Most of the county is served by Dominion Virginia Power, but portions are served by Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative (SVEC). Service territories are based on Virginia Department of Energy data. Because a single road can have both providers, your best approach is to check your seller’s last utility bill or call SVEC at 800-234-7832 to confirm.
• Town of Elkton: Operates its own municipal electric system.
• Other areas: Consult a recent utility bill or contact the town office for confirmation.

Trash in Rockingham County

Rockingham County does not provide residential curbside trash pickup. Here are your three options for solid waste disposal:

Option 1: HOA or Community Pickup

Many HOA communities include trash pickup in their dues. Check your deed or HOA documents. If trash is included, it will be listed in your monthly or annual fees.
